An explanation with a listening on the reported speech in the BBC website. You can also have a look at some video lessons with: an introductionreference wordschanging verbs,  and more tense changes.

Check on this experiment! For one year, Colin Beaven and his family UNPLUGGED from electricity, produced NO RUBBISH, travelled exclusively ON FOOT OR BY BIKE, and BOUGHT NOTHING but food (all of it locally grown). By the end, they discovered something SURPRISING: Living simply wasn’t just food for the environment; it made them HEALTHIERHAPPIER, AND RICHER in ways they’d never expected.
